Jul 16 » DAY 3 OF RACES

Another day of races has gone by. The last two races of the qualifying series were completed today, and we now face the last stage of the regatta. Tomorrow is the moment of truth, especially for the first three sailors because it will be the first time in three days that they meet in the same race. So far, they have always sailed in different fleets except on the first day. The allocation to fleets in the qualifying stage is done so that on any given day each sailor does not compete against the sailors right above and right below in the ranking. In the case of the top three, the first always sails in yellow fleet, the second in blue and the third in red. Hence, if their relative positions don't change from one day to the next, they always sail in different fleets. In tomorrow's three final races, however, they'll be sailing against each other, as the division for the final series has the first 48 sailors sail in one group.

Hernan Umpierre won his two races very easily, with considerable distance between him and the rest of the fleet. Stephan Baker scored two bullets as well, and Mia had a first and a third. Javier Garcon climbed to 4th, while Benjamín Fuenzalida didn't do so well in the second race and is now 5th with 16 points, 9 more than Umpierre. 10 points behind Benjamín, in 6th position overall and second female is Amparo Stupenengo. Anything can happen!!!!!

We wish good luck to ALL the sailors, be them in yellow, blue or red fleet. Notwithstanding the results, what matters most is that they do their best and learn to be happy with the outcome.
